They seem to focus on the act itself.. the act of being in that relationship is a sin. Ok, it's a sin (so they say). But what happens to same-sex headed families who haven't had a chance to hear the Gospel? This is an issue that deserves thinking long term as well.

I agree though. I think over time I could get over the offensive things the Church has been involved in. But I'm not sure I can get over the inability to recognize same-sex families.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01226208429329312021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7684881182086537395.post-20273723895278388082013-05-22T07:57:20.130-07:002013-05-22T07:57:20.130-07:00The missionaries do indeed use such a claim as an ...The missionaries do indeed use such a claim as an excuse, but it's also possible they could have been in the area. I suspect they passed your record on to the other area where you live now and it was either lost in transition, buried, or the receiving missionaries haven't gotten around to or bothered with following up yet.

Honest people _are_ thinking about these issues. They're unavoidable when the reality of the homosexual experience is acknowledged--and why, I think people fight so hard to avoid recognizing that reality, because they can't handle thinking about the implications.

I myself am very optimistic about people's ability to think about and work-through-slash-receive-revelation on these things, but the first step is to recognize reality. I think it's too hard for most people to just realize it all at once and then adjust their whole paradigm. I mean, I think of my own internal processes of dealing with my homosexuality in the context of my religion (which is so much more than conventional understanding of "religion") and it's easier to understand why the process might be so difficult and slow for those who who do not deal directly with the reality, either through themselves or people close to them.Trevhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03258097334170692217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7684881182086537395.post-43821242893641166632013-05-21T18:53:37.027-07:002013-05-21T18:53:37.027-07:00The church's inability to recognize same-sex f...The church's inability to recognize same-sex families is one of the primary reasons why I resigned.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17848197238675003339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7684881182086537395.post-12005019394630929512013-04-25T16:45:25.035-07:002013-04-25T16:45:25.035-07:00Congrats and enjoy.
